Tuesday 04/03 Social Studies - Examining Artifacts

Purpose: I can learn about events that led to the approval of the Declaration of Independence by examining artifacts.
  1. Connection:  Examining Artifacts
  2. Learning: Today I want to teach you that examining artifacts--like a primary source--can help you to better understand a topic than simply reading about it.  Primary source images allow you to see the historical event--enabling you to focus on the setting; people and their clothing and facial expressions; and equipment.  Use what you observe to ask questions and make inferences about history!
  3. Engagement:  Examining Artifacts
    • Textbook pages 162 - 165
    • Interactive Notebook page 68
  4. Link:  Begin finishing your Causes of the American Revolution Vocabulary by writing a sentence for each word that shows your understanding.
  5. Extension: Liberty's Kids "The First Fourth of July"
