Tuesday 12/05 Morning Warm-Up

  1. Turn-in and mark-off your Food Drive items under the table in the back.
  2. Display your "Character" Response for the Homework Checker.
  3. Read and comprehend "Deep-Sea Search" @ ReadWorks to show your ability to think about characters.
  4. Have your Reading and Book Club materials ready then start reading.

Monday 12/04 Reading - Practice Describing Characters

Purpose: I can analyze how the characters in a mystery story are introduced.
  1. Thinking & Writing About Your Reading: "Introduction of Characters" Response is due Tuesday
    • List the characters you meet during your first Reading Assignment for your book club.
    • In your Reading Notebook, use a Character Web to identify elements of THREE characters:
      • What character trait best describes them?
      • Describe the character's appearance.
      • What are the character's actions?
      • Describe the thoughts/feelings of the character.
      • What is your opinion of the character?
  2. Publish your NaNoWriMo Advertisement so your classmates and parents can view them:
    1. "File" then "Publish to the web"
    2. "Publish" then "OK"
    3. Copy the link then paste it to our Community Document.
  3. Read your classmates' advertisements, be ready to choose ONE you'd like to read.

Monday 12/04 Social Studies - Roanoke Colony

Purpose:  I can identify and analyze the causes and consequences of European colonization by bringing characters to life.
  1. Connection: Roanoke - The Lost Colony
  2. Teaching/Engagement: Examine Three Colonies Through Perspective
  3. Link: The American Colonies Vocabulary
    • Define and visualize the ORANGE highlighted words.
    • Use textbook pages 73 - 83 or the Glossary
  4. Extension: What is your theory on the mystery of Roanoke Colony?  Explain what you think happened and why in your notebook.

Monday 12/04 Morning Warm-Up

  2. Monday Band Lessons: Check your lesson time
  3. Have your Social Studies materials ready
  4. Begin reading and comprehending "Roanoke The Lost Colony" @ ReadWorks, we will finish after we return from Specials.

Friday 12/01 Writing - NaNoWriMo Advertisements

Purpose:  I can write a brief advertisement, including details about important events and characters, for my novel.
  1. NaNoWriMo Novel Advertisement:
    • Include a picture that represents your story.
    • Be sure to follow our Four-Point Sentence writing expectations of correct capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and complete sentences with subjects-predicates.
  2. Publish your advertisement so your classmates and parents can view them:
    1. "File" then "Publish to the web"
    2. "Publish" then "OK"
    3. Copy the link then paste it to our Community Document.
