- Teaching Point: Today I want to teach you that Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. Traditional haiku are about nature--but can be about any topic--and have a very specific syllable structure. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the last line has 5 syllables.
