Tuesday 05/09 Writing - Acrostic Poems

Purpose:  I can write acrostic poems about people, places, things, and ideas.

1. Whole Group: Acrostic Poem #1, #2, #3, and Mr. Erickson's Acrostic Poem.
2. Acrostic poems use letters to shape their stanzas and help us understand the subject and use sensory details to help their audience see, hear, smell, taste, and feel what's happening.
3. Independent Writing Time:
• Write acrostic poems about people, places, things, and ideas you know well (Acrostic Poem Interactive)
• Continue writing poems about things that move or make noise.
• Continue writing unique poems about ordinary things.
• Continue using sensory words to describe weather.
• Continue personifying objects.
• Continue to write words and images for months of the year.
• Use sensory details to describe any other topic.
