- Teaching: Today I want to teach you that an author can present readers with information that he or she wants the readers to believe. To support this information, the author will include reasons and evidence. These parts of the passage give readers more information about why they should believe what the passage says. When you read, ask yourself:
- What does the author want me to believe after reading this passage?
- What reasons and/or evidence is the author using to prove the information is true?
- Engagement: Author's Reasons and Evidence Practice
- Application: Read and comprehend "Patrick Henry" in the American Revolutionary War Heroes Packet
- Identify the author's reasons and evidence for Patrick helped jumpstart the Revolutionary War.
