Tuesday 04/03 Reading - Nathan Hale and Decoding Unknown Words

Purpose: I can decode unknown words and phrases using context clues.

2. Teaching: Today I want to teach you that at some point all readers will come across unfamiliar words and phrases while reading a text.  A good reader will decode the word/phrase using context clues.  But the best readers monitor their decoding meaning to ensure it fits the meaning of the text.
3. Application: Read and comprehend "Nathan Hale" in the American Revolutionary War Heroes Packet
• Identify questions from reading the passage.
• Decode intelligence, espionage, speculate, confiscated, and martyr.
• Answer at least three (3) comprehension questions.
